The Capable New Ford Escape in Saint James

The Ford Escape is a compact Sports Utility Vehicle that offers drivers capable handling as well as a smooth ride; its interior is quite spacious for its class. You'll also enjoy fuel economy in the Ford Escape, and you'll have plenty of room for cargo and up to five passengers. If safety is a priority, you'll be happy to know that all models of the Ford Escape are equipped with the Ford CoPilot360 safety system, a multitude of airbags for you and your passengers, and more. The Ford Escape offers many available amenities, making it one of the most diverse SUVs of its compact class.

The Ford Escape is available in five trim levels:

  • the S, or base model
  • the SE
  • the SE Sport
  • the SEL
  • the Titanium

We'll discuss those trim levels shortly.

The Ford Escape offers many engines and transmission configurations that set it apart in its class. The base engine is a 181 horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The inline three-cylinder motor is available with either an all-wheel drive or a front-wheel-drive configuration. Other motor options (all paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission) include a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, also turbocharged. The turbocharged three-cylinder offers only a slight bump in acceleration and power, while the turbocharged four-cylinder engine offers up to 250 ponies under the hood.

We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that the innovators at Ford have also configured a hybrid version of the Ford Escape for their environmentally conscious customers. One hybrid is a plug-in, while the other is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that provide up to 221 horsepower. These are available in the Titanium trim level as well as the SE Sport.

Now, let's take a good look at the trim levels and what each has to offer the driver.

The S is the base model, as previously stated, but it is not a stripped-down version of the Escape. Cloth trim is standard in the S model and the access to the Ford Sync infotainment system. You'll enjoy manually controlled air conditioning and heat, a six-speaker sound system, cruise control, and audio controls on the steering wheel.

The SE offers a power driver's seat that is heated (as is the entire front row), push-button start, and access to Sirius XM Satellite radio.

The SE Sport offers heated front seats, Ford Sync, an upgraded touchscreen to utilize Ford Sync and the Ford CoPilot360 system, the opportunity to upgrade to leather seats, and more.

The SEL offers remote start, a heated steering wheel, a liftgate that can be activated with one's foot, an upgrade to the Ford CoPilot360 system in the form of a Reverse Sensing System.

The Titanium is the "top" trim level, and it offers all the perks you could imagine in a vehicle, such as an upgrade to the sound system, a sunroof, power everything (including the front passenger seat), and heated and cooled seats on the second row of seats.
